Entering the world of Dota 2 : Part 10
Welcome back to part 10 of entering the world of dota 2. I'm very sorry but I don't have much time to do blogs cause I have to do my internship and stuff. Well this part is a special part where I will be talking about trading. Yes although I said I was gonna write something about hero roles but i'll leave that for later. . Dota 2 is free if you just want to play the game. But of
course like most things in the world some stuff is not free. The game has a
cosmetics system, where the player gets to dress up their heroes in cool
cosmetics items. Of course each hero has their own unique sets of items. And
you can get these items either from buying them off of the Dota 2 store or by
getting them as a drop after the end of the game or from watching tournaments.
However if you want to watch online tournaments you have to buy the ticket
before your able to watch those games. Now I know like I do you guys wants free
stuff. Who would want to spend money on a game you plan to play for free right?
Well that’s where trading comes in. There are many websites that is used to
trade items but the website that I mainly use is dota2lounge. http://dota2lounge.com/
It is quite easy
to use, there is an add to steam button where you can add people directly into
your steam account without having to search them and then adding them, giving a
lot of convenience when it comes to trading.
Now you are probably wondering who are you to teach me how
to trade? Well I started from basically nothing except for a fireborne odachi
and I’m able to make around 3000-5000 baht selling those items afterwards. So
yeah a fireborne odachi probably cost around 120 baht. So yeah from a single
item I’m able to slowly but gradually trading them into other items. So I’ll
give you some small little tips if you want to trade for real.
The first tip is to stay on dota2lounge at all times.
Although this may seem very boring but once you get into the Trading addiction
you will be constantly checking this website more than Facebook trust me on
this because this has happened to me.
The second tip I want to give you is to find someone who has
a lot more experience than you in terms of trading and ask them whether your
trades are worth it or not. Remember you yourself have to learn the basics and
prices of items in the market to don’t just wait to only ask your experienced
friend. Because what happens if you get a really good offer but your friend is
not online? Chances are someone else is going to steal your offer and you won’t
get it.
My third tip to you is to don’t store things unless you
really want to. Always be open up for trades even if it means breaking your
set. If you are sure you can get those items back then go for it. It is better
to get a good trade then to leave your items in your inventory and leave them
to rot in the long wrong. This is a mistake many people make, they wait and
wait for the one and best offer and the prices of their items go down. It is
better to get rid of your items as fast as possible to get other things that
can get you better things.
My fourth tip is to use the search tool. This tool will get
you rocking and turn you into an expert trader in no time. This is the best
tool in the website; do not only wait for offers. Every second tons and tons of
people refresh their trades thus bumping down your trade. Thus you have to use
the search tool to find other people’s trade that are similar to yours and if
you find a good offer add that person straight up and try to get that trade
done before the other person trades it.
My fifth tip is to try to keep keys instead of items. Keys
do not drop in price but items do. Although some item goes up but most will
drop down, there prices are not very stable thus holding keys is the best if
you want new items. But do not hesitate to get keys or else you would not have
many items to trade.
My sixth tip is to try to use your rares to trade for new
items, and complete a set. Since a complete set can be sold for keys but if you
want to get keys for your random rares the price is around 6 random rares to 1
key. What I usually do is to trade 1 rare for 1 new common item, 2 rares for 1
new uncommon item, and use 1 key to trade for the rare of that set. This
ensures that you will get profit although it looks pretty slow but it is quite
fast if you keep it up. And of course you can always try to get new
commons/uncommons using old commons/uncommons. This will give you a lot of
profit. Remember to be ready to pay a higher price for a higher profit than to
pay the lowest price for a profit. Because if you want to pay the lowest price
you will be waiting forever for someone who will be willing to trade with you,
since everyone wants a cheap price for everything, but in some cases you have
to loosen the knot and part ways and half/half.
My seventh tip is to keep up with the market. Always check
for updates or else you might not be able to keep up with the market and once
your item’s prices starts dropping you will be losing a lot of profit. Always
remember the weekly updates of Dota 2. And try to check the 5 favorite workshop
items on youtube as much as possible to stay tune for what is going to come up
next. Although not all the items in the 5 favorite workshops are guarantee to
get in the Dota 2 store but their chances of getting in there is quite high.
My eighth tip is to try to focus on items that you want to
wear at first then once you get those items you can continue to trade for just
keys to get expensive items such as dragonclaw hook, or just to get keys for
new sets that are going to be in future releases.
My ninth and final tip is to enjoy trading and you will love
it. Don’t forget that once you quit dota 2 like me you can sell them for real
money.
That brings me to the end of my blog on how to trade. The
rest is up to you and lady luck on how much of a profit you can gather from
trading. Thank you for reading and GL HFJ. Well in my next part I'll probably continue with hero roles.
