Entering the world of Dota 2 : Part 3
Welcome back to part 3 of Entering the world of Dota2. In this session I will talk about items and gold. What are items? Items are objects that a hero can hold. Each hero has 6 slots in their inventories. Meaning they can not carry more than 6 items. The picture believe shows the shop on the right. As you can see the shop suggest items for beginners who do not know what to buy.
But these item builds are not straight, meaning each heroes may have different item builds but this build is what most people would buy for that hero. Early game items are items that you should aim for in the first 10-12 minutes of the game. But for people with perfect last hitting abilities they can get their core items in the allotted time. What are core items? As the name suggest core items are things you should aim for after you get early game items. Or for some heroes getting their core items straight before getting early game items can be very beneficial in some situations. But I'll get into that later. The last line are late game items. These items are what you aim for once you get core items. These items are very expensive but there required for you to end the game. Now although each heroes can carry a maximum of 6 items but some items can not or should not be bought by some heroes. Why is that you might ask. The answer is simple some heroes with these item can make the game unbalance.
For example pudge and vengeful spirit can not buy blink. Because pudge has meathook which is able to "hook" a hero to where he is. So pudge can go to places in the map where a hero can not leave hook the hero there and then blink away. Although heroes can teleport out it will make the game quite unfair and a disturbance. Same goes to vengeful spirit who can use nether swap and swap heroes into places where they can not get out. Another example of items that should not be bought is buying skull basher on heroes who already has bash as a passive skill. So why is this bad? Obviously a hero's passive skill does not stack with skull basher. Which means by buying skull basher you do not get a higher % to bash a target which means your basically wasting money for something you already have. Now your probably wondering can heroes share items? no they cannot because there was a case in dota 1 where heroes can share items so they bought items for the carry and let the carry teamwipe the other team. So in dota2 you can only share consumables and some items you can see the full list from this link. http://www.dota2wiki.com/wiki/Item_Sharing
Now after buying your probably thinking how bout selling? Yes you can sell most item but there are some exceptions which is gem of true sight and black king bar. I will get into that in a bit. But first let's look at selling overall. When you buy an item you can sell it back to the shop in 10 seconds to redeem your full gold but if you used the item or if you decided to sell it after 10 seconds is up you only get 50% of the gold back. Now let's get back on track why can't you sell black king bar? I had a personal experience on this issue. I was playing antimage and the other team had a bunch of chain disables. So I sold my black king bar like 3 times becomes as you use it the cooldown gets lower but you also get avatar for one second less each time you use it. Your first usage gives you 10 seconds of magic immune, while the 5th usage only gives you 5 seconds. In 5 seconds a carry hero can probably kill two supports thus to make them game a little fairer they decided to make it so you can not sell it so your stuck with 5 seconds of immune late game . A hero such as
Can easily chain hex you after you run out of BKB. At first I was also going to talk about gold but this blog is getting a bit too long so i'll talk about what golds are their usage and how to get them in my next blog. Thanks everyone for checking out my blog leave comments and ask questions if you need to. If you have a lot of questions you can message me on facebok here.
